Bellatrix Lestrange's life after Hogwarts
Participated in the First Wizarding War
During the First Wizarding War, Bellatrix, along with her husband Rodolphus and brother-in-law Rabastan, proved to be one of Lord Voldemort's bravest supporters. Later, with Voldemort's defeat at the hands of the then-infant Harry Potter, the First Wizarding War officially came to an end. Many Death Eaters were captured and executed by Aurors. However, Bellatrix was among the few Death Eaters able to fight off the Aurors and escape captivity.
In order to discover Lord Voldemort's whereabouts, she went to Frank and Alice Longbottom along with the Death Eaters who fled with her. The two Aurors were severely tortured by them. Bellatrix was known for skillfully and effortlessly casting the Cruciatus Curse. She cast the curse on the Longbottoms to inflict severe bodily pain on them and torture them into surrender. However, the Longbottom couple refused to relent despite all the torture, and the curse eventually drove them insane.
The trial of Bellatrix Lestrange

Bellatrix was eventually defeated and arrested by the Aurors on charges of torturing Alice and Frank Longbottom. She was brought before the Magical Law Council and chained to her chair. However, she Bellatrix refused to appear weak and fragile and therefore remained confident at all times.Unlike many other Death Eaters who left Voldemort's side after his defeat, she asserted her loyalty to Lord Voldemort. She then proudly announced that she would remain loyal no matter the circumstances. She was sentenced to life in prison for her heinous crimes and sent to Azkaban for her crimes.
Captivity in Azkaban

In Azkaban, she was prisoner 93 and was held in a maximum security cell. During her time in Azkaban, being held captive took a toll on her, both physically and emotionally. Bellatrix spent fifteen years there, from 1981 to 1996, until Lord Voldemort returned to power and was finally able to escape Azkaban with his help.
Battle for the Department of Mysteries

In 1996, the Battle of the Department of Mysteries was fought between the Death Eaters, Harry Potter, and their allies. Bellatrix was the second hand commander of the Death Eaters. She tricked her into obtaining Sybill Trelawney's prophecy about Lord Voldemort's downfall.During the fight, Bellatrix showed her bravery. She showed her loyalty to Lord Voldemort and that she could do anything to achieve her goal. She tortured Neville Longbottom to blackmail Harry into giving up and giving her the prophecy.
When Harry called out his master's name and informed her that Lord Voldemort was a half-blood, she was angry. So she cast a spell to stun him, to punish him for disrespecting her master. However, Lucius Malfoy stopped them in time, not wanting to destroy the prophecy for which they had come.During the fight, Bellatrix effectively demonstrated her mastery of dueling magic. She dueled and defeated her niece, Nymphadora Tonks. She bravely fought her cousin Sirius Black and successfully killed him in the Chamber of Secrets. She then fought and defeated Kingsley Shacklebolt.
She was also the only follower of Voldemort to manage to block Albus Dumbledore's spell, which helped her escape. However, upon witnessing the death of her godfather, Harry was enraged and followed Bellatrix into the atrium to exact revenge on her. He was so angry that he couldn't stop himself from casting the infamous Unforgivable Curse on Bellatrix. But he could only hurt Bellatrix for a few seconds. This caused Bellatrix to mock him for her inability to cast such a powerful spell and laugh at her failure.
He then cast the Cruciatus Curse on Harry to teach him a lesson. He wanted to show her how the spell was triggered and how strong the curse was. However, upon learning that the prophecy had been destroyed, he panicked. When Voldemort arrived, Bellatrix began to beg her master not to punish her. However, Voldemort was furious that she had not returned the prophecy to him without being destroyed. He told her to shut up and didn't listen when she said that Dumboldore was near her.
Voldemort tried to kill Harry by casting the Killing Curse. However, Dumbledore arrived in time and saved Harry's life. He cast a spell to bewitch the statues in the Fountain of Magical Brothers so that they would protect Harry's life while he trapped Bellatrix. Dumbledore also summoned Cornelius Fudge and other Aurors so they could see Voldemort for themselves. When they all arrived, many Death Eaters were defeated. However, Voldemort grabbed Bellatrix and fled the scene, but not before being seen by the Aurors. Subsequently, the Aurors finally accepted Dumbledore's and Harry's claims about Voldemort's return to power.
Reunion with Severus Snape

When Voldemort ordered Draco Malfoy to kill Albus Dumbledore, Draco's mother, Narcissa Malfoy, became concerned for his safety. Despite Bellatrix's reservations about Snape, Narcissa's motherly love for Draco forced her to go with Snape. However, Bellatrix was not a loving person. Despite this, she was in love with Narcissa and therefore agreed to accompany her to Snape's childhood home in Cokeworth. When she got there, Bellatrix didn't shy away from expressing her distrust of Severus Snape. She bluntly asked him why she left Voldemort's side during his downfall and why he was unavailable during their previous fights. However, Snape gave logical answers to all of his questions.
At Narcissa's request to help Draco, Snape said that while he could not change the Dark Lord's mind, he had promised to help Draco in his quest. Also, Bellatrix asked him to take the Unbreakable Vow, as she felt that Snape's promises were nothing more than empty words. However, Snape asked her to take her wand and cast the spell, much to her surprise.Later, Bellatrix took on the task of teaching Draco Occlumency. So that she can then prevent anyone from influencing him or accessing her thoughts.
Battle for the Astronomy Tower
Bellatrix participated in this battle in June 1997, in which Snape killed Dumbledore. After hearing this news, Bellatrix was excited. She shows how cruel and cunning Bellatrix was and how much satisfaction she used to get from someone's pain or even death. She left Hogwarts through the Great Hall, but not before surprising many first years.
Stay at Malfoy Manor
She stayed at Malfoy Manor the following year while Lord Voldemort visited her. The Malfoys were not happy with Voldemort's stay there, as he insulted and taunted them on behalf of his niece Nymphadora Tonks, who was an auror.
Although Bellatrix and Narcissa claimed that they had nothing to do with Tonks, especially after her marriage to a werewolf, Remus Lupin, the teasing never stopped. Bellatrix was the only member of the family who was pleased with Voldemort's stay at the Manor. She could be due to her extreme loyalty or obsession with her master. The Death Eaters and Snape informed Voldemort of Harry Potter's removal from the Dursly household. Hearing this, Bellatrix was the first to ask him to allow her to kill "Potter Boy". However, Voldemort refused her request, saying that he would kill Harry himself.
Also, Bellatrix happily agreed to kill Nymphadora Tonks on Voldemort's orders. When members of the Order of the Phoenix transported Harry from the Dursley home, Bellatrix and Rodolphus mainly attacked Tonks. She did her best to kill Tonks, but to her disappointment, Tonks managed to escape while Rodolphus was injured in the duel.Later, by order of Lord Voldemort, a copy of Godric Gryffindor's sword was placed in the Bellatrix family vault at Gringotts Wizarding Bank for safekeeping. Unfortunately, both Bellatrix and Lord Voldemort were unaware that the sword was not real, just a copy.
Skirmishes at Malfoy Manor

In 1998, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasly, and Harry Potter were given the royal sword by Godric Gryffindor. They were then caught by the Snatchers during their search for Muggle-borns under orders from the Ministry. They were taken to Malfoy Manor, where Bellatrix resided. When she saw the sword in his hands, Bellatrix panicked as she thought the sword was in her well protected vault. In order to find out where the trio got the sword, she first defeats the thieves, but leaves them there with a plan to kill them later.
She tortured Hermione with her signature spell, the Cruciatus Curse. However, when Hermione refused to back down, Bellatrix even carved the word "Mudblood" into her forearm to further torment her. This incident also indicates her extreme obsession with pure hatred and she has great contempt for Muggles or Muggle-borns.Hermione then tried to trick them by lying that her sword was fake. In order to find out if she is telling the truth, she ordered Griphook to come and check the sword. At this point, Harry had only convinced the goblin to lie to save Hermione's life. Griphook was true to his word and told Bellatrix that the sword was a fake.
As the trio tried to flee the mansion, Bellatrix grabbed Hermione again and plunged a dagger into her throat. She threatened Harry and Ron with slitting Hermione's throat if they didn't drop her wands. She asked Draco to summon the Dark Lord, but when she couldn't out of fear, Lucius stepped forward to complete the task. But just as he was about to touch the Dark Mark to summon her lord, Dobby intervened and dropped the chandelier. This caused Bellatrix to throw Hermione, who was caught by Ron and ran to the side to save herself from her. She then scolded Dobby for going against her masters, to which Dobby replied that she was now a free elf and had no master.
This angered Bellatrix and she threw the dagger at them. Everyone escaped except Dobby, who was killed by Bellatrix's silver dagger. The dagger struck him in the chest, killing him instantly.

However, Voldemort stopped them and instead asked Narcissa to examine Harry. When Narcissa lies that Harry is really dead, Bellatrix and other Death Eaters accompany the Dark Lord to Hogwarts to announce Harry's defeat at Voldemort's hands.
When they arrived at Hogwarts, they discovered, to their great surprise, that Harry was actually alive. The war between the Hogwarts wizards and the Death Eaters continued. Only Bellatrix fought at the same time as Hermione Granger, Luna Lovegood, and Ginny Weasly. Although all three were trained and powerful witches, they were no match for Bellatrix. He then cast the Killing Curse on Ginny Weasly, angering her mother, Molly Weasly. Molly had already lost her son Fred from her in battle and did not want to lose her only daughter.
When Molly attacked Bellatrix, Bellatrix didn't take it seriously at first and continued to taunt her. She was a little convinced that Molly was no match for her like the other three witches. She greatly underestimated Molly, fueled by grief over Fred's death. This overconfidence on Bellatrix's part led to her downfall.
